It all started with an invitation by Maddi’s Gallery in Charlotte, North Carolina to show my work and now it’s a 3 state delivery blitzkriek.
A Bottle Tree Tour I’d say and lots of people to see along the way. There’s so much that goes into preparing for a journey like this and the real trick is going to be how to transport close to 20 Bottle Trees plus a 10 footer on my flatbed trailer. I’m also taking birdbaths and forged garden decor. The highlight of my trip will be getting to Frederick, Maryland to spend a few days with my friends Ed and Ruthie. I met them last November when they were staying at The Shack Up Inn in Clarksdale and I was there with a veterinary friend spaying and neutering all of the critters on the property. At that time I had a small foster dog that I named Jacque but called him “Bug”. They fell in love with him and I knew it was a good match. They were on their way to Natchez and took the time to really think this adoption over. 24 hours later I get a call to say that they’ll meet me at my shop in Jackson to pick Bug up for their journey back home. And the rest is history. We stayed in touch and now I get to see Bug again and meet his 3 other siblings. The 10 footer is going in Ed’s garden in Frederick because when he came by my shop, he knew he wanted something for back home. Funny how things work out. Because of their Delta road trip they named Bug after B.B. King, who’s name is Riley B. King. He is now Riley Bug.
