Only Felder Rushing would come up with the idea of driving around with a bottle tree in the bed of his truck!!
And what a great idea it is! Taking a piece of your tranquil garden on the road with you. If you haven’t seen what I’m talking about, go to his website….
I’m also showing you a photo of the piece taken at my shop before installation. Felder asked me to build something “flowing in the wind” with bottles, of course.( It’s commissions like this that put a big smile on my face.) Felder was invited to speak at Cornell University in New York last month and the main stipulation they had for him was to bring his notable 70’s Ford pickup complete with flower beds full of annuals, succulents and such. I think they fared pretty well considering the 60+ mile an hour winds over 23 states. ( He went all over the country) Spread’n that Mississippi laid back charm that he so graciously exudes.
Wonder what he’ll have me do next??? I think he mentioned something about tomato vine supports, on the funky side, of course.
Whoa! I would be so entertained for miles if I were cruising down the highway behind Felder’s truck. Too bad I missed it! what a great way to express your passion. For you Stephanie, your work…artwork makes me want to live in a vast field filled with your metal designs, your sculptures would be my furniture! Beautiful work!
