That’s right!!! That is Felder Rushing installing MY arbor.
Well, actually the arbor now belongs to Betty Allin of Jackson, Mississippi. She is what I call a repeat offender…..this is the third piece she has bought from me. Also on display on her property are works by Pat Juneau of Louisiana and Poor Julia, a local favorite who makes beautiful, whimsical people out of recycled metal, namely tools and auto parts.
The day of installation found me with no help as everyone I knew went out of town. One phone call and Felder to the rescue!!!! He brought his good friend Duke and together we were able to put the arbor in place before Betty got home. ( I wish I could have taped Betty’s expression of joy over the phone…..a truely, affable Southern Lady with an unequivocal zeal for life! ) My favorite kind of client!!
Next project: A 20’ horizontal Bottle Arbor that will go over two garage doors and flow down the sides just a bit to resemble a swag. I have to attach it to the brick wall. This is in the Eastover area of Jackson, so this thing might stir up the neighborhood a bit. Again…...my favorite kind of client!!!!
Well, I had seen the extraordinary arbor above [the photo doesn’t do it justice] so I had to see for myself the 20’ garage adornment. I cased Eastover and finally caught a glimpse from my side-view mirror, so I doubled back for some neighborly trespassing [nothing citationable, of course]. The arbor is breathtaking [and amazingly fluid at twenty feet!]. Makes me long for something more substantial than what limited space my carport offers so that I might have my own…
